Conference: “Open Europe: Open Data for Open Society”
The interested parties are invited to participate in the conference and discussion Open Europe: Open Data for Open Society organised on 18 and 19 February by the Latvian Open Technology Association (LATA) in collaboration with the Centre for Public Policy PROVIDUS, the public participation platform ManaBalss.lv and Lattelecom. It will be one of the most significant events of the year in the sector of information and communication technologies. The event will gather 200 participants from 16 EU member states.
Conference and discussion aim is to promote the development and strengthening of the European information society. During the conference, experts will share their experience and present to the public the opportunities for the use of open data and the Latvian and foreign achievements in re-use of information. The aim of this discussion is to talk about use of open data and use the experience of successful citizens’ initiatives in Finland, Latvia, Switzerland, United Kingdom in order to come up with useful recommendations for the upcoming review of European Citizens’ Initiative mechanism as well as to give recommendations for the Digital Agenda for Europe.
The target audience of the events is representatives of the public, private, and non-governmental sectors who are involved in or interested in the building of the open society policy in Latvia and the EU and the opportunities for data usage, civic initiatives, e-petitions and who are enthusiasts of open technologies.
